Over the past 10 years, HWA GeoSciences Inc. has provided geotechnical engineering services on over a dozen projects at Boundary Dam. Notable projects include installation of multiple-position borehole extensometers, piezometers and drainholes into both abutments of the dam; installation of rock anchors on the north rib of the dam’s access tunnel; repair of cracks on the downstream face of the dam using epoxy injection grouting; geologic investigation to delineate the relative susceptibility of the rock abutments to erosion by dam overflow; and evaluation of numerous landslides affecting the stability of various access roads to the dam.
